Old rice mill

The rice mill was a world of monochrome. With only a few windows for admitting light, it was dark and completely cut off from the outdoors where the sun was shining intensely. A woman in a sari was pouring unhulled rice into the drum of a rice milling machine so old one might call it an ‘industrial-heritage’ artifact. Fine dust, which had been spread through the air during the milling process, created a diffusive light, where the image of a woman emerged as if she were stepping from an old movie.
